Place Vendôme is a square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris located north of the Tuileries Garden and east of the church of the Madeleine. It is the starting point of the Rue de la Paix. Its architecture is due to Jules Hardouin-Mansart, that in 1699 conceived an urban plan to which the proprietors of the real estate had to be molded. Most façades are classified as Historic Monument.
The place is also known to be the place where the romantic composer Frédéric Chopin, who lived his last years and died on October 17, 1839.
